Since buying my house last year, I’ve been tentatively and intermittently making plans to replace the nasty, faux wood paneling in my basement with drywall, and put down something tasteful to cover the concrete floor.
I was grateful then when the warmer weather brought the rain and the melting snow which made apparent a couple of bodged repairs the previous owner had made to the foundation wall.Consequently, I’ll be investing in a urethane concrete crack repair kit soon. That should be an entertaining weekend project. The videos make it look dead simple; what could possibly go wrong?

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

There were a couple of undocumented attempts at staying upright on the unicycle before this, but nothing spectacular. Having inflated the tire to the recommended 55lbs, I’m ready for some living room acrobatics.  Stick around until the end for the pratfall.

The sound in the background is the documentary “Rip! A Remix Manifesto” which I was attempting to watch. Only a fool thinks he can multi-task on one wheel.

My car was caked in salt, so I took the opportunity of a high-40’s day to run it through the car wash then drove home with the sun roof open.

Is Tumblr The New MySpace?

I set up my own Tumblr account today to see what all the fuss is about (I’ve back-filled it, so you could be forgiven for thinking I’ve been here for a few months).

It seems what I have is a linear progression of updates from myself (and potentially other people).  I can easily change the appearance and behavior of the templates using CSS. I can add a list of people I like down the side, and I can embed images, video, audio and various widgets - presumably even flashing, animated gifs - if I like.

It feels to me like MySpace got an API and some HTML classes.  Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing! :)

It’s here! It’s here! The replacement unicycle arrived and went together with ease. Is that thing supposed to be a stand?
The plan is to master the unicycle in the basement over winter, then emerge in the spring, like a one-wheeled animal waking from hibernation.

I’ve had a unicycle in the “Buy Later” section of my Amazon.com shopping cart for over a year, and in a fit of whimsy decided to add it to a recent order. Way to go on the creative upselling, Amazon!
My unicycle showed up today with a mis-threaded crank which meant one of the pedals couldn’t be attached. My days of riding bikes without the required number of pedals ended back around the turn of the millennium while returning to a campsite on the outskirts of Amsterdam one night.
Back in the box it goes. Back goes the box to Amazon. A replacement is already on its way.
